YIELD TRIAL ON POOR PERFORMING VINEYARDS

CONDUCTED BY WESTC0RP | WESTERN CAPE REGION

SUMMARY OF REPORT

A project to increase yields and quality was conducted on poor performing economical unviable vineyards in the Western Cape province of South Africa. 2 Shiraz blocks (treatments 1 and 2) and 3 Cabernet Sauvignon blocks (treatments 3,4 and 5) were selected on various farms in the region.

The blocks which received Advanced Crop Care (Agri-Balance, Zinc, and Fulbor) treatments showed a general increase in grape yield (see graph below). The decrease in yield at treatments 1 and 3 was because these blocks could not receive all treatments at the correct stages due to adverse weather conditions prevailing.

Increase in quality.

Treated with Agri-Zinc and Agri-Balance.

CONCLUSION

It was concluded that the treatment with the Advanced Crop Care products lead to an increase in grape yields and quality in terms of more even ripening, and was thus definitely economically viable.
